The elasticated energy absorber from Kratos® is a connecting lanyard for personal fall protection, designed for anyone working at height who needs to attach to an anchor system – scaffolders and roofers in particular. Fitted with two aluminium scaffold hooks plus an additional aluminium screw karabiner, it can be clipped directly to two independent anchor points, making it a practical choice for standard scaffold-based fall arrest.
The lanyard itself is made from an elasticated polyester webbing, 30 mm wide, specifically engineered to withstand sharp edges – a detail that matters on site when the line runs across scaffold tubes or edges. The energy absorber is built from 45 mm wide webbing and housed in a cover that opens easily, allowing a quick visual check of the absorber webbing at any time. Thimbles at the connection points add extra abrasion resistance, helping the system hold up to repeated use. At rest the lanyard measures around 1.20 m, extending to 1.50 m under load, and the whole unit weighs 1.70 kg.
The absorber is tested to EN 355:2002, the standard covering energy absorbers as part of personal fall protection equipment. It ensures that the impact force transmitted to the body during a fall stays within safe limits – in this case, below 6 kN. The system is rated for users up to 140 kg. This makes it well suited to scaffolders, roofers and other trades who regularly work from scaffold anchor points and need a compact, dependable fall arrest lanyard.
