The Blaklader WARM base layer is designed for anyone who works outdoors in cold conditions and needs to stay warm without getting damp. Targeted warm zones across the shoulders, arms, back, seat and sides cover exactly the areas where cold sets in fastest, giving extra protection where it matters most. It is recommended for temperatures between -5°C and -30°C, making it a genuine winter workwear layer rather than a lightweight thermal.
The base layer is made from 100% merino wool in a ribbed knit, weighing 200 g/m². Merino wool offers excellent insulation while wicking moisture away from the skin, so the wearer stays dry even during physical work in the cold. A ribbed collar and cuffed sleeve ends help the garment sit close to the body, while the extended back panel stops cold air getting in when bending or reaching overhead. Contrast stitching adds a visible detail. Because merino needs gentler care than standard cotton underwear, it should be washed at 40°C with wool detergent, without bleaching, dry cleaning, ironing or tumble drying.
The fabric is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, confirming it is free from harmful substances, which matters for a layer worn directly against the skin.
As a base layer, it suits tradespeople working outside in winter, including masons, tilers, roofers, sheet metal workers and painters, as well as gardeners, drivers and fishermen who spend long hours exposed to low temperatures.
