These craftsman shorts from Blaklader's 1599 range are designed for anyone who refuses to trade function for summer comfort: electricians, sheet metal workers, gardeners, warehouse staff and tradespeople who need to stay fully equipped even in shorts. Combining the layout of a classic craftsman trouser with targeted stretch panels, they suit days when mobility matters just as much as pocket space for tools.
The base fabric is a sturdy twill weave of 65% polyester and 35% cotton at 300g/m², built to hold its shape through daily wear on site or in the warehouse. Stretch panels in 4-way and 2-way fabric sit at the front, the yoke and the crotch, so bending, kneeling and long strides don't fight the fabric. Both the tool pockets and the rear pockets are reinforced, keeping the areas that take the most punishment from wearing out early.
The shorts come with a reinforced ruler pocket with a knife holder and pen pocket, a bellows-style leg pocket with a reflective detail, and several large pockets, including one with a zip and a detachable ID pocket. Wide belt loops, a hammer loop with a button fastening and a D-ring at the waist confirm this is genuine workwear rather than a leisure short with extra pockets. The fabric is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and carries the OEKO-TEX MADE IN GREEN label, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances and produced under more environmentally responsible conditions.
