This bib overall from Blaklader is built for anyone whose job brings them close to heat, open flame or electrical hazards: welders, electricians and mechanics get a single garment that combines several layers of protection. An adjustable waist and elastic braces keep the fit comfortable through changing work postures, while a generous set of pockets - including a rule pocket with knife holder, a chest pocket and external kneepad pockets - makes daily tasks on site or in the workshop easier to handle.
The fabric, a blend of 85% cotton, 14% polyester and 1% antistatic fibre at 350 g/m², has a sturdy, durable feel that holds up to demanding daily use. The twill weave gives the material a firm grip and long service life, and the flame-retardant and antistatic treatment is built into the fibres, rated by the manufacturer for up to 20 industrial wash cycles under EN ISO 15797. The surface also repels oil, dirt and water, which keeps maintenance straightforward even in tough working conditions.
The overall carries a wide set of certifications, each covering a different hazard: EN ISO 11612 addresses protection against heat and flame, EN ISO 11611 covers welding hazards, EN 13034 provides limited protection against chemical splashes, and IEC 61482-2 protects against the thermal effects of an electric arc, with an ATPV rating of 16.0 cal/cm² indicating the energy level up to which the garment protects against this hazard. EN 1149-5 confirms antistatic properties that reduce the risk of dangerous electrostatic discharge, and EN 14404 relates to knee protection when used together with matching kneepads.
This combination of standards makes the overall well suited to workplaces where several hazards can occur together, such as electrical installation, welding operations or industrial maintenance, where sparks, heat and static build-up can all be present at once.
