Product information "Flame Protection Work Trousers 1561"
This flame-retardant work trouser from Blaklader is built for electricians, welders and tradespeople who need protection against several hazards at once, not just one. Pre-shaped knees allow freedom of movement when crouching, while knee pad pockets set at two different heights let the fit be adjusted to the individual wearer. Reflective piping along the legs improves visibility in poor light without making the trousers look like specialist safety wear.
The fabric is a blend of 85% cotton, 14% polyester and 1% antistatic fibre in a twill weave, at a weight of 350 g/m². That combination gives a fabric that is sturdy yet comfortable to wear, finished to repel oil, dirt and water so it stays manageable even after a hard day's work. The trousers are also rated for industrial laundering to EN ISO 15797, which makes them practical for regular use with commercial laundry services, and the manufacturer certifies them for up to 20 wash cycles.
Protection is layered across several standards: EN ISO 11612 covers short-term exposure to flame and heat, EN ISO 11611 qualifies the trousers for welding work, and EN 13034 covers limited protection against chemical splashes. The arc flash rating to EN 61482-1-1, with an ATPV value of 16.0 cal/cm², protects against the effects of an electric arc flash, a hazard particularly relevant when working on live electrical installations. The antistatic finish to EN 1149-5 prevents static build-up in the fabric, adding protection in environments where sparks or electrostatic discharge pose a risk. Certification to EN 14404, when combined with the matching knee pads, also provides protection for kneeling work.
That makes these trousers well suited to industrial settings, electrical work and welding, where several hazards can occur on the same job and a single garment needs to cover them all rather than relying on multiple specialist pieces of clothing.
