These bib overalls from Blaklader are built for people working where several hazards overlap at once, including electricians, welders, road and construction workers, and service technicians. The fabric is inherently flame resistant, meaning the protection is woven into the fibre itself and does not wash or wear out over time. With an APC 2 arc protection rating, they are suited to higher-risk tasks where basic flame resistance is not enough.
The outer fabric, a blend of modacrylic, cotton, FR polyamide and aramid, is woven with a ripstop structure that boosts tear strength and stops small damage from spreading further. A thin extra lining at the front raises the arc protection to the higher APC 2 class without adding unnecessary bulk. The knees are reinforced with CORDURA, Kevlar and Protal, so kneeling on rough surfaces on site wears the fabric down much more slowly. The outer material is water and dirt repellent, and the layout of pockets, including knee pad pockets and dedicated tool and ruler pockets, is built around what tradespeople actually need within reach. The garment is entirely metal-free and PFAS-free.
The certifications cover a wide range of risks: EN ISO 11612 protects against heat and flame, EN 61482-2 against thermal hazards from electric arcs, EN ISO 11611 is the standard for welding work, EN 13034 guards against liquid chemical splashes, EN 1149 dissipates static electricity, EN 14404 relates to kneeling work, and EN ISO 20471 class 2 ensures good visibility in high-vis roles. The fabric is also tested against harmful substances under OEKO-TEX Standard 100. This makes the overalls a practical choice for tradespeople and industrial workers who need several types of protection combined in one garment.
