These long johns from Blaklader are designed as a base layer for jobs where heat, open flames or arc flash risks are part of the daily routine. Available as a unisex style from XS to 4XL, they suit a wide range of wearers and form a protective first layer beneath the main workwear.
The ribbed knit fabric, made from 59% Modacrylic, 39% cotton and 2% other fibres, sits close to the body and feels like a genuine textile rather than a technical membrane. At 250 g/m² the material is sturdy enough for daily wear while still feeling right as underwear. An elasticated waistband and cuffed leg endings keep the garment in place even under several layers of clothing, and the certification labels are placed on the outside so they don't chafe against the skin.
The flame-resistant finish is built into the fibre itself and does not wash out over time. Certification to EN ISO 11612 confirms protection against heat and flames, while EN 61482-2 adds protection against the thermal effects of an electric arc. The antistatic property under EN 1149-5 prevents hazardous static build-up, an important factor in explosive or spark-sensitive environments. Paired with suitable outer garments, these long johns are well suited to work in electrical trades, energy supply, metalworking and any setting where arc flash or flame protection is required.
