These multi-norm work trousers from Blaklader are built for anyone facing several hazards at once on site: heat, flames, static build-up and poor visibility in traffic. They are designed for tradespeople, electricians, road and construction workers and service staff who need one pair of trousers to cover a whole range of risks instead of switching between different protective garments.
The fabric is inherently flame-resistant, meaning the protection is built into the fibre itself rather than a coating that wears off over time. The blend of modacrylic, FR viscose, polyester, cotton and aramid is double-woven and weighs in at 310 g/m², while the ripstop weave adds strong tear resistance for everyday use on site. The knees feature CORDURA®/Kevlar®/Protal®-reinforced knee pad pockets, and pockets subject to heavy wear are reinforced with double-thickness fabric so the trousers hold up to frequent kneeling and abrasion. The surface is also water- and dirt-repellent, which keeps maintenance simple during daily work.
The trousers carry several certifications, each covering a different type of risk: EN ISO 11612 confirms protection against heat and flames, EN ISO 11611 class 1 is aimed at welding work, EN 1149-5 provides antistatic, charge-dissipating properties, and EN 13034 PB[6] gives limited protection against liquid chemical splashes. The EN ISO 20471 class 2 rating ensures visibility in daylight and headlight beams, and combining the trousers with the matching top even reaches class 3. IEC 61482-2 class 1 additionally confirms arc flash protection, with a specified ATPV rating of 11.9 cal/cm².
