The Blaklader Inherent base layer top is designed for anyone working in environments with heat, flame or arc flash risks and needs a reliable first layer under their protective clothing. Its high collar with concealed zip sits comfortably at the neck without getting in the way when dressing, making it a considered part of a layered protective outfit.
Knitted from a rib-stitch blend of modacrylic, cotton and a small share of other fibres, the fabric sits close to the body and feels genuinely textile despite its flame-resistant properties, rather than technical or stiff. At 250 g/m² it is substantial enough for daily wear under workwear while remaining flexible enough not to restrict movement. The antistatic finish helps limit static build-up during the working day, which matters in particular around flammable substances or gases.
Certification to EN ISO 11612 confirms protection against heat and flame, while EN 61482-2 confirms suitability against electric arc hazards, such as those encountered when working on electrical installations. EN 1149-5 covers the antistatic properties of the fabric. In practical terms, this means that when worn as a base layer under protective clothing, this top is built to hold its own rather than melt or fail under stress. The outward-facing certification labels keep the protection classes visible even after repeated wear.
