This flame-resistant coverall from Blaklader is built for tradespeople, electricians and welders who face heat, flame or arc flash hazards on the job. Its extensive range of pockets, including knee pad pockets, a ruler pocket with a knife holder and a separate tool pocket on the leg, covers the storage needs of daily work without compromising on protection. The concealed, reinforced two-way metal zip sits shielded behind a flap, keeping it out of the way of welding sparks or contact with hot surfaces.
The fabric is a blend of 85% cotton, 14% polyester and 1% antistatic fibre in a twill weave, flame-retardant treated and weighing 350 g/m². That combination gives a rugged yet wearable fabric with a water- and dirt-repellent surface, so it stays comfortable through demanding work on site or in the workshop. The bellowed action back and pre-shaped elbows keep the coverall from restricting movement during overhead work or frequent bending, while the elasticated waist and snap-button cuffs allow the fit to be adjusted to the wearer. The garment is suitable for industrial laundering to EN ISO 15797, making it practical for heavy professional use.
In terms of protection, this coverall covers a wide range of hazards. It is certified to EN ISO 11611, protecting against sparks and brief flame contact during welding, while EN ISO 11612 covers protection against heat and flame in broader applications. Certification to EN 13034 Type 6 provides limited protection against liquid splashes, and EN 1149-5 confirms the fabric's antistatic properties, which reduce the build-up of static electricity. Particularly relevant for electrical work is the IEC 61482-2 certification with an ATPV rating of 16.0 cal/cm², a figure that indicates how much arc flash energy the fabric can withstand before causing second-degree burns. Combined with certain knee pads, the coverall also meets EN 14404-3 for knee protection.
This combination of certifications makes the coverall well suited to electricians, welders and tradespeople in industrial settings with elevated flame or arc flash risks, such as power supply, plant engineering and metalworking.
