This flame-retardant sweatshirt jacket from Blaklader is built for anyone whose work involves heat, flame or arc flash risks, without giving up everyday comfort. It wears like a soft sweatshirt but works just as well as a jacket thanks to its plastic zip, making it a versatile choice for tradespeople, electricians and service technicians. Side gussets give it an ergonomic fit that keeps movement easy on the job.
The fabric blends modacrylic, cotton and a small share of antistatic fibre, with a brushed loopback knit on the inside. That means a soft, comfortable feel against the skin even over long shifts, while the 280 g/m² weight provides real warmth without feeling bulky. Being completely metal-free, the jacket avoids the pressure points that metal zips or buttons can cause, and the concealed, reinforced plastic zip holds up reliably under regular use.
The protective performance is built into the fibres themselves, so it doesn't wash out over time. EN ISO 11612 covers protection against brief flame contact and heat, while EN 61482-2 APC 1 addresses the thermal hazards of an electric arc flash, with the EBT 13 cal/cm² and ELIM 12 cal/cm² figures showing how much energy the fabric can absorb. EN 1149-5 adds antistatic, charge-dissipative properties, which matters in environments with flammable substances or dust. The high collar can be turned up for extra coverage around the neck, and shoulder reflective details help with visibility on site.
