Product information "Women's Softshell Jacket Inherent APC 2"
This women's softshell jacket is built for work environments where flame resistance, arc flash protection and everyday comfort all matter at once. It belongs to Blaklader's Inherent range and is aimed at women working in petrochemical plants, the oil and gas industry, or similarly demanding settings. A notable detail is the pair of loops on the chest, designed to hold gas detectors, oxygen meters or microphones – a clear sign of where this jacket is meant to be worn.
The 3-layer softshell fabric is inherently flame-resistant, meaning the protection is built into the fibre itself and won't wash out over time. The blend of modacrylic, cotton, polyamide, polyurethane and aramid gives the jacket a weight of 490 g/m² and solid breathability, while the fleece lining adds a soft, comfortable feel against the skin. The outer surface resists oil, dirt and water, and the material itself is windproof and waterproof, so the jacket holds up well in rough conditions. Because it's entirely metal-free, it's particularly suited to environments where metal components could pose a safety risk.
The jacket carries several certifications that together cover a wide range of hazards: EN ISO 11612 relates to protection against heat and flame, EN ISO 11611 covers welding and similar processes, EN 13034 provides limited protection against certain chemicals, and EN 1149-5 addresses antistatic properties that help dissipate electrostatic charge. On top of that, arc flash protection to EN 61482-2, class APC 2, means the jacket protects against the heat of an electric arc flash, the kind of hazard found when working on live electrical equipment. Combined, these standards give the jacket a protection profile that's rarely found in a single garment.
The extended back, concealed zips and reflective details make it practical for long shifts in industrial settings, from chemical and oil and gas sites to work involving arc flash risk.
