The Inherent APC 2 bib overalls from Blaklader are designed for electricians and tradespeople facing multiple hazards on the job, from heat and flames to arc flash and poor visibility. The flame resistance here is not a surface treatment but woven directly into the fibre structure, so protection stays intact wash after wash.
The ripstop fabric, a blend of modacrylic, cotton, FR polyamide, aramid and an antistatic fibre, feels soft and flexible while offering excellent tear strength. The external knee pad pockets are reinforced with CORDURA®, Kevlar® and Protal®, giving the areas that take the most wear noticeably longer life. The surface repels water and dirt, exposed pockets are double-layered for extra durability, and an adjustable waist with elastic braces keeps the fit comfortable through long shifts. Metal-free construction with plastic zip and buttons adds a further layer of safety when working around electricity.
On the certification side, these overalls cover a wide range of risks: EN ISO 11612 confirms protection against heat and flame, EN 61482-2 rates the garment APC 2 in the lined areas and APC 1 elsewhere for arc flash protection, EN ISO 11611 covers welding hazards, EN 13034 provides limited protection against chemical splashes, and EN 1149-5 confirms the antistatic properties. The EN ISO 20471 class 1 rating also improves visibility in low-light conditions. All certifications remain valid for up to 50 washes, so protection holds up over the working life of the garment.
