Product information "Shell Jacket Inherent APC 2"
This shell jacket from Blaklader is built for year-round wear and designed for tradespeople, electricians and service technicians working in environments with flame, arc-flash or electrostatic hazards. It is lightly padded, completely metal-free and made from an inherently flame-resistant fabric, meaning the protection is built into the fibre itself and does not wash out over time.
The outer material blends modacrylic, cotton, polyamide, polyurethane and aramid fibres with an antistatic component, woven into a durable ripstop fabric. It is waterproof to 12,000 mm, windproof and breathable thanks to a Ret value of 8.15, while the surface repels oil and dirt. Taped seams keep water out even in heavy rain, and the 290 g/m² weight keeps the jacket comfortably light for all-day wear. A high collar with a concealed zip, an extended back, a drawcord hem and adjustable cuffs with velcro closure all help the jacket sit close to the body for a secure fit.
The jacket carries certification to several standards: EN 343 class 4.1 covers protection against rain and water vapour resistance, EN 1149-5 covers antistatic properties, EN ISO 11611 covers welding protection and EN ISO 11612 covers protection against heat and flame. EN 13034 provides limited protection against liquid chemicals, while EN 61482-2 with APC 2 confirms protection against the thermal effects of an electric arc. Together these standards make it a genuine multi-norm protective jacket for higher-risk tasks.
Loops on both sides of the chest for attaching gas detectors, oxygen meters or microphones make the jacket especially useful in petrochemical settings and the oil and gas industry. It also suits work in the energy sector, including solar, wind and hydro power. The separately available hood, model 2164, can be attached easily when needed.
