This flame-retardant jacket from Blaklader is designed for people who face heat, flames or arc flash risks on the job, including welders, electricians and workers in road and construction trades. The adjustable cuffs and waist, combined with the back pleat, keep the jacket comfortable during overhead work or bending, while the extended back panel stays in place even when reaching or crouching.
The fabric is a twill weave made from 85% cotton, 14% polyester and 1% antistatic fibre, weighing 350 g/m². This gives the jacket a sturdy, robust feel that holds up to daily wear, and the oil-, dirt- and water-repellent finish keeps grime from soaking in on site or in the workshop. Because the jacket is suitable for industrial laundering to EN ISO 15797, it can go through professional laundry cycles regularly without losing its protective performance.
The jacket carries several certifications, each covering a different hazard. EN ISO 11612 confirms protection against heat and flame, EN ISO 11611 is specific to welding work, EN 13034 provides limited protection against liquid chemicals, and EN 1149-5 allows electrostatic charge to dissipate safely. It is also tested to IEC 61482-2 for the thermal effects of an electric arc, with an ATPV rating of 16.0 cal/cm², which is a direct measure of the protection offered in the event of an arc flash.
Practical features such as the chest pocket with D-ring, loops for a gas detector or microphone, and the inside pocket with phone compartment make this jacket a dependable choice for industrial, electrical and construction settings where both protection and functionality matter.
