The Major Protect work trousers from PLANAM are built for anyone whose job brings them close to sparks, heat, or open flame. Part of the Major Protect protective clothing range, they are designed for professionals in metalworking, electrical and building services, municipal road construction, and roles involving chemicals or oil. The royal blue/grey colourway and the wide size range from 42 to 110 make them a practical choice for teams of any size.
The fabric is a blend of 64% cotton, 35% polyester and 1% carbon fibres, woven as a sturdy 2/2 diagonal twill with a weight of around 370 g/m². The result is a material that feels tough enough for demanding daily work without feeling stiff or heavy to wear. The carbon fibres also give the fabric an antistatic property, preventing the build-up of electrostatic charge in the garment.
The flame-retardant finish helps stop heat and flames from spreading unchecked through the fabric. The added fluorocarbon finish causes liquids such as welding beads to bead up and roll off the surface instead of soaking through. Combined with the antistatic treatment, this makes the trousers suitable for workplaces with an increased risk from sparks, arcing faults, or localised heat exposure.
On the practical side, the trousers feature two vertical front pockets, a thigh pocket with flap, a ruler pocket, and two rear pockets with flaps closed by press studs, along with a button waistband and fly. This mix of protective performance and thoughtful pocket layout makes them a dependable choice for heat and welding protection on the job.
