This multi-norm pair of work trousers from Blaklader is built for trades that face more than one hazard at once, including electricians, welders, road and construction workers, service technicians, and oil and gas workers. The fabric is inherently flame-resistant, meaning the protection is woven into the fibre itself rather than applied as a coating that can wear off or wash out. Combined with the lightweight inner lining, this gives the trousers the higher APC 2 rating against electric arc flash.
The fabric blends FR polyester, modacrylic and cotton with a small antistatic fibre content, woven into a sturdy 315 g/m² material. Reinforcements made from CORDURA, Kevlar and Protal at the knees, together with a double layer of fabric in the pockets, keep the trousers holding up under the wear and tear of construction sites and industrial settings. The surface is water- and dirt-repellent, which cuts down on everyday maintenance, and the trousers are approved for industrial washing at 60°C. A wide range of well-thought-out pockets, including external kneepad pockets and a reinforced ruler pocket with a knife holder, add practical value for tradespeople on the job.
The trousers carry several certifications that match the hazards these trades typically face: EN ISO 11611 covers protection while welding and in similar processes, EN ISO 11612 protects against heat and flame, EN 1149 provides antistatic protection, EN 13034 guards against liquid chemicals, and IEC 61482-2 addresses the thermal hazards of electric arc flash. On top of that, EN ISO 20471 class 2 meets the requirements for high visibility on the road. Since the trousers are metal-free and PFAS-free, they are also suitable for use in ATEX-classified environments, where electrostatic discharge or metal parts would otherwise pose a risk.
