These multi-norm work trousers from Blaklader are built for professionals facing more than one hazard on the job, including electricians, road and construction workers, and service technicians who need reliable protection combined with strong visibility in traffic. What sets them apart is that the flame-resistant property is not a coating but woven directly into the fibres of the fabric, meaning the protection stays intact wash after wash.
The fabric is a blend of modacrylic, cotton, FR polyamide and aramid with a small antistatic component, woven in a ripstop structure that gives it excellent tear resistance. At 260 g/m², the material is sturdy without feeling bulky, and the strong strength-to-weight ratio is noticeable over a full working day. Reinforced panels made of CORDURA®, Kevlar® and Protal® protect the knees, the area that takes the most punishment on site, while pockets prone to heavy wear are double-stitched to extend their working life. The outer fabric repels water and dirt, the trousers are entirely metal-free, and according to the manufacturer they are tested and approved for up to 50 wash cycles, including suitability for industrial laundering under EN ISO 15797.
The trousers cover a wide range of protective requirements: EN ISO 11612 confirms protection against heat and flame, EN ISO 11611 covers welding work, IEC 61482-2 addresses protection against the thermal effects of an electric arc (with an ATPV rating of 11 cal/cm²), and EN 13034 provides limited protection against liquid chemicals. EN 1149-5 reflects the antistatic, electrostatic dissipative properties of the fabric, while EN ISO 20471 class 1 ensures visibility in traffic, reaching class 3 when paired with a matching jacket such as article 4089. Flame-resistant reflective tape with double stitching and external kneepad pockets round out the protective design in practical terms.
