Anyone working outdoors knows the problem: sun and heat make the working day harder, and ordinary T-shirts offer little defence against UV radiation. The 4PROTECT® UV protection T-shirt COLUMBIA was designed for exactly this situation. Available in ten sizes from 3XL to XXL, it suits anyone regularly exposed to strong sun at work, from construction and road building to forestry, gardening and agriculture.
The outer fabric combines recycled polyester with TENCEL™ lyocell fibres sourced from certified or controlled wood sources. In practice this translates into a noticeably soft, smooth feel against the skin and a naturally dry sensation that makes a real difference during physical work in warm conditions. Ribbed polyester cuffs finish the sleeves cleanly and help the shirt keep its shape wear after wear.
The UV protection is confirmed by testing to EN 13758-2, the standard that specifically assesses the protective properties of textiles against ultraviolet solar radiation. The shirt achieves a UPF rating of 50+, meaning only a very small proportion of UV radiation passes through the fabric. It also meets the general base standard for protective clothing, EN ISO 13688, and is classified as PPE Category I, covering risks of a minor nature.
This makes the COLUMBIA shirt a practical choice for anyone spending long hours in the sun: on construction and road-building sites, in public authorities and organisations, waste management, forestry, gardening and agriculture, skilled trades, transport, logistics and warehousing.
