The Blaklader Inherent balaclava is designed for anyone who needs extra head and face protection underneath a helmet or protective clothing when working in hazardous environments. It covers the head and neck completely and, thanks to its soft, stretchy fabric, stays comfortable even during long shifts worn under other protective gear.
The knit fabric is made from 59% modacrylic, 39% cotton and 2% other fibres, weighing in at 250 g/m². This blend is inherently flame-resistant and antistatic by nature, yet still feels soft against the skin, with a ribbed knit that keeps it close-fitting and flexible without pinching. Outward-facing certification labels mean the balaclava is easy to identify at a glance, without any tags irritating the neck.
It is certified to EN ISO 14116, confirming protection against limited flame spread, and to EN 1149-5 for antistatic clothing that reduces the risk of electrostatic discharge. The 1764 quality is additionally tested and approved to APC 1, with an ELIM value of 7.3 cal/cm², a measure of protection against heat energy from an arc flash. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label further confirms that the fabric has been tested for harmful substances.
This makes the balaclava well suited to work in electrical trades, plant construction, and the oil and gas industry, as well as any setting where arc flash, heat or flame exposure is a real risk.
