The Peltor Optime I cap-mounted hearing protector is the helmet-attachable version of the well-known Optime series, designed for anyone who already wears a safety helmet on construction sites, in industry or forestry work and wants hearing protection permanently at hand. Instead of its own headband, the cup mounts onto approximately 30 mm helmet slots, so it stays attached to the helmet rather than being carried as a separate piece of kit.
The sealing rings are filled with a combination of liquid and foam. This lets the cups mould closely to the shape of the head and ears, stay comfortable during extended wear under a helmet, and maintain a reliable seal instead of pinching or letting noise through after a while. At around 205 g per pair of cups, the added weight on the helmet stays manageable, and the bright yellow colour also makes the protector easy to spot.
The Optime I is tested to EN 352-3, the standard covering ear muffs used in combination with industrial safety helmets. The SNR rating of 26 dB indicates the average attenuation, complemented by the H 33 dB, M 24 dB and L 14 dB values for high, medium and low frequencies, which helps estimate how well it performs against low-frequency site noise or higher-pitched machinery noise.
The cups are compatible with helmets under item numbers 4004, 4010-005 and 4012, making them a practical choice for companies that already use these helmets. They are supplied in packs of 20, which simplifies equipping whole teams or keeping stock at hand.
