The Corby oven mitt is a classic kitchen essential for anyone who needs a firm grip and reliable protection from heat and moisture when handling hot pots, pans or baking trays. The mitt is made from waxed cotton, a material chosen for its durability and water-repellent finish. The wax coating helps moisture and splashes bead off rather than soak straight through, giving the mitt the resilience needed for daily use in busy kitchens. If the water-repellent effect fades over time, the wax layer can simply be reapplied, keeping the mitt in good working condition for longer. It is machine washable at 30°C, and should not be ironed with steam, tumble dried, bleached or dry cleaned, so that both the fabric and its wax finish stay intact.
