The Tjark PU rain trousers from Feldtmann are built for anyone working outdoors in wind and rain who also needs to stay visible, think road construction, logistics, municipal services or industrial sites with changing weather. They bring together rain protection, hi-vis colouring and several other protective functions in a single garment, saving the hassle of layering multiple separate pieces.
The outer material is PU coated onto a polyester carrier fabric, weighing in at only around 230 g/m², which keeps the overall weight extremely low. In practice that means the trousers sit light and supple on the body, barely restrict movement, and remain comfortable to wear over longer shifts. The seams are double-welded rather than stitched, which improves water resistance while also cutting down on wear points. The reflective strips are welded on too instead of sewn, so there are no extra seams where moisture could get in. An elasticated waistband with an additional drawcord, plus leg cuffs that adjust via press studs, allow the fit to be tailored to different body shapes and footwear. The fabric also stretches both lengthwise and crosswise, noticeably improving freedom of movement on the job.
Several standards apply at once here. EN ISO 20471 Class 1 confirms the hi-vis performance delivered by the fluorescent orange colour, helping the wearer be spotted early in poor visibility. EN 343 Class 4/1/X covers protection against wind and rain, backed up by an 8,000mm water column and breathable construction. The EN ISO 14116 Index 1 rating means the fabric is flame-retardant, while EN 1149-5 certifies antistatic properties that limit electrostatic charge build-up. EN ISO 13688 is the general base standard for protective clothing. Multinorm badges on the lower left leg display these certifications directly on the garment.
