The Modaflame Knit FR Balaclava is a flame-resistant head and neck covering designed for work environments that call for extra warmth alongside reliable protection. It covers the head, neck and throat and works well as a second protective layer under a helmet or other headgear.
The fabric is inherently flame-resistant, meaning this protection is built into the fibre itself and won't wash out over time. The high cotton content keeps the balaclava comfortable against the skin despite its protective role, while the generous fit allows enough freedom of movement to wear it under additional PPE.
On the protection side, the FR20 covers several hazards at once: it guards against radiant, convective and contact heat, and carries an ARC2 rating against the thermal hazards of an electric arc flash. Its antistatic property reduces the risk of static build-up, which is why it's also suitable for use in ATEX environments. The fabric is also rated 40+ UPF, blocking 98% of UV rays, a useful bonus for outdoor work. The balaclava is CE certified and UKCA marked.
