The exhaust backpressure tester is a diagnostic tool for automotive workshops that allows you to measure backpressure in the exhaust system and quickly identify wear or blockages. It is installed between the engine and catalytic converter and shows you directly whether the catalytic converter or muffler is contaminated or damaged – without removing components.
This tester saves time and prevents misdiagnosis. The measurement is taken during engine operation at higher RPMs, where wear becomes most apparent. You can then quickly determine whether cleaning or replacement is necessary.
The device is suitable for routine maintenance and fault-finding on cars and light commercial vehicles, especially when power loss, black exhaust smoke or fault codes suggest catalytic converter problems.
